Zelenskyy warns of severe energy shortages in Ukrainian regions
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he received updates throughout the day from Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, government members, and the Presidential Office, noting that several regions are facing critical challenges with electricity and heating while restoration work continues.
In a post on his Telegram channel, Zelenskyy noted that the situation remains extremely challenging in several communities, including settlements in border regions, Caliber.Az reports.
In Kyiv, repair work continues after the strike two days ago, with the main goal being full stabilisation of the energy supply to all residential buildings.
He said nearly 200 repair crews are active in the Kyiv region, assisted by the State Emergency Service. The most difficult conditions persist in Brovary, Vasylkiv, Fastiv, and Boryspil, where many households remain without power despite ongoing repairs.
Zelenskyy added that “Points of Invincibility” have been deployed nationwide, with personnel from Ukrzaliznytsia, Ukraine’s national railway operator, Naftogaz, and other state companies involved. Energy workers, repair crews, and municipal services continue operations in Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, and Donetsk regions.
He also highlighted that harsh winter weather complicates infrastructure restoration, a situation Russia is reportedly attempting to exploit.
