Yerevan accusations against Baku aimed at exacerbating situation
Azerbaijani MFA's statement
POLITICS 29 September 2022 - 09:49
On September 28, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia published an unfounded statement about the alleged violation of the ceasefire regime by the Azerbaijani side, as well as false accusations against Azerbaijan through the RA Prime Minister's account on the social network, indicating that Armenia pursues the goal of aggravating the situation in the region.
Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry made the due statement on September 29, Caliber.Az reports.
"Earlier Azerbaijani Defence Ministry reported that on September 28, around 18:00 Armenian armed forces fired at Azerbaijani army units in the direction of the Kalbajar region from small arms of various caliber, as a result of which an Azerbaijani soldier was seriously wounded. Thus, the Azerbaijani army took adequate measures in response to the provocation committed by the Armenian side violating the ceasefire.
There is no doubt that the provocations by the Armenian side, which have already acquired a "traditional" nature, are purposefully carried out on the eve of another high-level meeting. We should remind you that Armenia, having violated the truce agreed at 9:00 on September 13, of this year on the eve of the summit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, has continued its provocations for 36 hours deliberately increasing the tension. And now, when the contacts between the two states have resumed, and regular meetings are scheduled, on the eve of the visit of international mediators to the region Armenia is playing the same game, turning people into victims of its tough policy.
It is obvious that this is yet another excuse for Armenia to derail the negotiation process.
The Armenian leadership must not escalate the situation in the region, set conditions for the negotiation process, stop the practice of accusing the international community, and sit down at the negotiation table.
Azerbaijan, which, unlike Armenia, is the initiator of the peace agenda, and is rapidly working on the large-scale restoration and opening of transport communications on the territories freed from occupation, is not interested in the creation of tension in the region. However, any provocation against our country will be firmly thwarted," the statement reads.
