Azerbaijan concludes BSEC chairmanship with member states’ appreciation

28 June 2025 10:53

Azerbaijan received expressions of gratitude from fellow members of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organisation (BSEC) for its effective and inclusive leadership during its six-month chairmanship, as acknowledged at the organisation’s 50th anniversary Council of Foreign Ministers meeting held via videoconference.

According to the Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs, cited by Caliber.Az, participants in the virtual session exchanged views on the progress of existing initiatives and the potential launch of new projects within the BSEC framework. Discussions also focused on the outcomes of the work conducted by the organisation’s various sectoral working groups, BSEC-EU cooperation, and the implementation of BSEC’s broader economic agenda.

Special attention was given to cooperation with BSEC-affiliated institutions, as delegates reviewed past interactions and explored ways to strengthen future collaboration.

Heads of delegations from the member states shared their assessments on the current status and prospects of regional cooperation within the BSEC. At the end of the meeting, the Council of Ministers adopted a series of decisions, recommendations, and resolutions aimed at advancing these objectives.

In their remarks, BSEC member states and the organisation’s Secretary General extended their appreciation to Azerbaijan for its active and effective coordination during its chairmanship, which operated under the guiding theme “Strengthening ties, promoting development.”

As part of its chairmanship responsibilities, Azerbaijan also led the BSEC Business Council and the Parliamentary Assembly of BSEC (PABSEC), prioritising the strengthening of ties between relevant agencies of member states in the areas of transport, energy, digitalisation, and trade.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the BSEC chairmanship was officially handed over to Bulgaria for the next six-month term.
