Pakistan’s PM set for official visit to Azerbaijan ahead of ECO summit

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is scheduled to embark on a two-day official visit to Azerbaijan starting July 3, where he will represent Pakistan at the Economic Cooperation Organisation (ECO) Summit being held in Baku. 

This visit holds significant diplomatic and economic importance, as it aims to strengthen regional cooperation and enhance bilateral ties with member countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Pakistan’s Minute Mirror.  

During the summit, Sharif is expected to deliver a keynote address, outlining Pakistan’s vision for enhanced trade, regional connectivity, and joint development initiatives among ECO member states. He will also highlight Pakistan’s commitment to fostering economic partnerships and collaborative efforts to address common challenges such as energy security, climate change, and sustainable development.  

In addition to participating in the ECO summit, Sharif will engage in high-level bilateral meetings with regional leaders and heads of state. These discussions are likely to focus on deepening economic ties, expanding trade routes, and exploring investment opportunities, particularly in energy, infrastructure, and agriculture. 

The prime minister’s visit is part of Pakistan’s broader diplomatic outreach to strengthen its regional alliances and play a more proactive role in multilateral platforms. Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have stated that the visit is expected to result in several mutual cooperation agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs) that will benefit the economies of both Pakistan and Azerbaijan, as well as other ECO members.
