The seventh round of consular consultations between the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan and Ukraine has been recently held in Baku, focusing on the current status and future prospects for enhancing bilateral cooperation in consular affairs.

The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Emil Safarov, Head of the Consular Department, while the Ukrainian delegation was headed by Vladyslav Kanevskyi, Head of the Consular Service Department, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az.

The consultations brought together representatives from key governmental bodies, including the General Prosecutor’s Office, the Interior Ministry, Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Science and Education, the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora, and the State Migration Service of Azerbaijan. Officials from both the Azerbaijani Embassy in Ukraine and the Ukrainian Embassy in Azerbaijan also participated. Delegates explored ways to expand the bilateral legal and treaty framework to facilitate smoother consular relations.

Participants also exchanged experiences and best practices related to protecting the rights and lawful interests of Azerbaijani and Ukrainian citizens, enhancing digital consular services, and managing visa and migration policies. The consultations concluded with the signing of a protocol that formalised the agreements and outcomes of the meeting, underscoring the commitment of both countries to deepen their collaboration in consular affairs.
