WB official: Ukraine's restoration needs over $349 billion
After the end of hostilities in Ukraine, the cost of its restoration will "significantly exceed" $349 billion.
The main expenses will be spent on the restoration of Ukraine's infrastructure, in particular, its power grid, Kommersant reports, citing World Bank (WB) Group President David Malpass.
At the same time, Malpass said that he did not notice any "fatigue" in the international community from the allocation of funds to Ukraine. However, according to him, a "gigantic disappointment" is growing against Russia because of its continuation of military operations.
"This is an exhausting war, and it is very disappointing," he added.
Ukraine has already received $18 billion from the World Bank. In particular, the World Bank provided $500 million to Kyiv in October under UK guarantees. Ukrainian authorities estimate the required budget assistance at $4-5 billion per month. Kyiv anticipates that the European Union will contribute $2 billion, with Germany contributing $500 million.
