Armenia should pay $1 trillion in reparations to Azerbaijan

Armenia should pay reparations in the amount of $1 trillion to Azerbaijan for the destruction carried out of its liberated territories.

According to Report, Kerem Karabulut, a lecturer at the Economics and Management Faculty at the University of Ataturk in Erzurum, gave this statement while attending the international scientific conference titled "The role of UNESCO conventions in the protection of cultural values and aspects of improving their application" on December 7 in Baku, organized by the National Commission for UNESCO of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the National Committee of Azerbaijan for ICOMOS and the Institute of Development and Diplomacy of the ADA University.

"Azerbaijan is the cradle of culture of the Caucasus. Shusha is the center of the Turkic culture and a very important city for the Turkic world", Karabulut said.

He further urged, that the economic aspect of the destruction in Shusha and in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, in general, should not be neglected, stating, that Armenia must stand accountable for the damage it has done in these territories, including both infrastructure and cultural monuments.

According to his calculations, the compensation that Armenia has to pay Azerbaijan amounts to $1 trillion. He noted, however, that after having viewed the scale of destruction in the city of Aghdam "even this amount seems insufficient".
