Finland's parliament names condition for transferring Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine
Chairman of the Finnish Parliament's Defence Committee Antti Häkkinen has said that Finland should also provide Ukraine with Leopard 2 battle tanks, but on condition that other European states would also take such a step.
Häkkinen told MTV Uutiset that each European country would have to participate to some extent in the process of providing Ukraine with tanks, but for Finland, the priority would be its own defence capabilities.
"If Europe is going to start supplying Ukraine with tanks on a larger scale, it would make sense for Finland to join the process. Of course, with a small contribution of our own, because for us, as a country bordering Russia, our own defence capacity is always a priority," the MP explained.
Häkkinen added that many European countries have a greater capacity to provide armoured vehicles than Finland.
