Moscow: Azerbaijan-Armenia normalisation priority for Russia

30 January 2023 14:01

The Armenian-Azerbaijani normalisation is among the priorities of Russia.

The Russian Foreign Ministry made the remarks in response to media questions on January 30, Caliber.Az reports.

"We are working intensively to overcome the conflict potential accumulated in the region. In this regard, one of the priorities is the normalisation of Armenian–Azerbaijani relations. The foundation is the statements of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of November 9, 2020, January 11, November 26, 2021, and October 31, 2022. We are convinced that the success of the process depends entirely on the strict adherence to these trilateral agreements," the ministry said.

It noted that Russia is connected with both republics by a common history, spiritual and cultural closeness, and strong ties of friendship between peoples. Russia, which directly borders the South Caucasus, is interested in the region's stability and prosperity, the mutually beneficial use and disclosure of its transport and logistics, trade and investment and technological opportunities. This is what the efforts of Russian diplomacy are aimed at.
