Envoy Michalko lauds EU-Azerbaijan growing partnership

The European Union EU) and Azerbaijan are building a strong partnership, and the Azerbaijan Rapid Technical Assistance Facility (AZTAF) programme testifies to it.

The remarks came from the Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan, Ambassador Peter Michalko, on March 29, at the event devoted to the annual review of the programme’s implementation progress, Report informs.

"AZTAF is one way we can work together [with the Azerbaijani government] within high international standards," he said, adding that AZTAF is a tool for such cooperation.

According to Michalko, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the EU and Azerbaijan identified a series of strategic cooperation areas and long-term goals for bolstering economic ties.

He also said that the AZTAF programme aims to support economic development, energy efficiency, mobility, etc.

"This programme has many beneficiaries, such as the various ministries and agencies attached to them, to achieve the government's goals. But the main beneficiary of AZTAF is the citizens of the country," he added.

"Let's continue to work together for a sustainable future of Azerbaijan," the ambassador added.
