Armenia must stop policy of discrimination against Azerbaijanis Statement by Community of Western Azerbaijan

The community of Western Azerbaijan has issued a statement in connection with March 31 - the Day of the Genocide of Azerbaijanis.

According to APA, the statement reads:

"Western Azerbaijanis mark March 31 - Genocide of Azerbaijanis Day with deep sorrow. After mass resettlement of Armenians in Caucasus by Armenian extremist armed groups and government of Armenia genocide was committed against Azerbaijani people. The genocide was carried out systematically on the basis of racist ideology inciting ethnic hatred.

The massacre committed on March 31, 1918 in Baku by the armed association of the extremist nationalist party "Dashnaktsutyun" is a terrible event and large-scale genocide against our people in the historical lands of Azerbaijan. We call on Armenia to recognize its responsibility for the genocide, ethnic cleansing, crimes against humanity and war crimes, and to take necessary steps for peace. Armenia must create conditions for the safe and dignified return of the expelled Azerbaijanis and restore the destroyed Azerbaijani cultural heritage.

In addition, Armenia must stop its policy of hatred and discrimination against Azerbaijanis, bring perpetrators of crimes against humanity to justice, put an immediate end to their glorification, and dismantle monuments to military and political figures and terrorists who participated in crimes against Azerbaijanis".
