Azerbaijani, Iraqi officials explore closer parliamentary collaboration
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has held a meeting in Baghdad with Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq to discuss enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation.

"Discussions focused on enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, strengthening political dialogue, and exploring opportunities for broader engagement in political, economic, and humanitarian spheres. Both sides emphasised the importance of sustained institutional ties based on mutual respect and historical friendship,” the message says.
Earlier, Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid met with Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov during his official visit to Iraq, where Bayramov briefed the president on Azerbaijan’s post-conflict reconstruction efforts in the South Caucasus and its initiatives to combat landmine threats in the liberated territories.
The meeting also underscored the growing partnership between the two nations, highlighting their shared goals of enhancing bilateral relations across multiple sectors.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iraq, acknowledging their robust and friendly ties. They discussed the state of bilateral relations and explored future prospects for expanding cooperation in areas such as politics, trade, economics, energy, investment, education, culture, and tourism.
