The meeting took place on May 7, with the foreign ministry's press statement noting that the two officials discussed various aspects of Azerbaijani-Iraqi cooperation and the current situation in the Middle East, Caliber.Az reports.
Both sides emphasized the importance of intensifying mutual visits and contacts at all levels — including state, parliamentary, and governmental — to maintain the positive momentum in bilateral relations.
They also discussed cooperation in political, trade-economic, energy, and humanitarian sectors, highlighting strong potential for expanding bilateral engagement and reaffirming both countries’ interest in deepening ties in these areas.
Earlier, Bayramov was granted an audience with Iraqi President Abdullatif Jamal Rashid, where Bayramov briefed the president on Azerbaijan’s post-conflict reconstruction efforts in the South Caucasus and its initiatives to combat landmine threats in the liberated territories.
The foreign minister also held a meeting with Mahmoud al-Mashhadani, the Speaker of the Council of Representatives of Iraq to discuss enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation in the course of his visit.
