Syria, Azerbaijan eye stronger institutional ties in Islamic affairs
Minister of Endowments (Awqaf) Dr. Mohammad Abu al-Khair Shukri held a meeting with the Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Damascus, Elnur Shahhuseynov, to explore avenues for enhanced cooperation in the field of Islamic affairs and religious endowments.
The discussions, which took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, focused on deepening collaboration between the two nations in matters of shared religious and cultural significance, Caliber.Az reports citing Syrian media.
According to a statement by the Ministry, both sides emphasized the importance of fostering stronger institutional ties to reflect the historic and fraternal bond between the Syrian and Azerbaijani peoples.
Shahhuseynov conveyed the Azerbaijani leadership’s strong desire to strengthen coordination and expand bilateral communication, particularly in areas related to religious endowments and Islamic outreach. He underscored Baku’s commitment to promoting mutual understanding and cooperation on issues of common interest.
Dr. Shukri welcomed the initiative, highlighting the role of religious dialogue and cultural exchange in reinforcing the spirit of solidarity between Muslim nations.
The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to maintain regular communication and explore specific frameworks for future cooperation.
