Five members of Palestinian militant group killed in blast on Lebanese-Syrian border

Five members of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine militant group were killed in an overnight explosion in Lebanon, near the border with neighbouring Syria, two Lebanese security sources and one Palestinian security source told Reuters on May 31.

The Israeli military told Reuters it does not comment on reports in foreign media. A correspondent for Israel's army radio, citing Israeli officials, said "there was no Israeli attack on the PFLP along the Lebanon-Syria border".

Israel has denied Arab media reports that its troops attacked a position of the Popular Front Liberation of Palestine-General Command (PFLP-GC) terrorist organization on the Lebanon-Syria border, killing five, according to The Jerusalem Post.

Arab media reports claim the incident allegedly happened near the village of Qousaya, which is in Lebanon on the Syrian border.

According to the pro-Syrian regime outlet Al-Mayadeen, an official from the PFLP-GC said there were five “martyrs” and 10 wounded after the incident and accused Israel of “aggression.”
