IFWA condemns separatist statement of Armenians in Germany, Sweden
The Stockholm-based International Fund of World Azerbaijanis (IFWA) appealed to official structures of Germany and Sweden in connection with separatist and incendiary statements of Armenian diaspora organisations operating in these countries.
The Central Council of Armenians of Germany and the Union of Armenian Associations of Sweden (UAAS) issued a joint statement supporting the Karabakh separatists, condemning the May 22 statement of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. The Armenian diaspora openly stated that any international or interstate document in which the territory of Karabakh is mentioned as part of Azerbaijan is considered unacceptable for Armenia.
"The path to peace lies through the elimination of problems that lead countries and nations to conflicts, wars and tragedies. Unfortunately, representatives of Armenian diaspora organidations do not want to understand and acknowledge this obvious truth. In particular, the Armenian communities of Sweden and Germany support the statement of the so-called ‘parliament’ of the Karabakh separatists and condemn the statement of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan,” IFWA said in a statement, Caliber.Az reports
According to the fund, these appeals by the Armenian communities of Sweden and Germany, as well as other countries, are provocative and show disrespect for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan and openly support separatism.
“By encouraging such actions of the Karabakh separatists against the internationally recognised territory of Azerbaijan, the Armenian communities of Sweden and Germany and other countries of the world stimulate new wars and tragedies. Azerbaijan holds the position of peace, respect for the territorial integrity of states and the norms of international law. This position of official Baku is supported by tens of millions of Azerbaijanis living around the world,” the statement continued.
Besides, the fun called on the official structures of these countries to bring to justice to those who are behind these provocations against Azerbaijan.
To recap, on May 22, Nikol Pashinyan stressed that to prevent a new war Armenia should deny "Karabakh's self-determination". He also noted that the territory of Azerbaijan recognised by Armenia is 86.6 thousand square kilometres, which includes the territory of Karabakh.
