Armenian PM: Progress made at meeting of commission on unblocking communications

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has said important progress was made at the meeting of the trilateral commission for the unblocking of transport communications held in Moscow.

He made the remarks at the meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin in Sochi, Caliber.Az reports quoting Armenian media.

"I want to express once again the readiness of the Republic of Armenia to open regional economic and transport communications within the principles of sovereignty and jurisdiction of those parties through which these communications pass. This applies to those communications specified in point 9 of the trilateral statement. I hope we will be able to come to concrete solutions," he said.

Pashinyan said the Armenian side has made concrete proposals, and he hopes they will be accepted.

"In principle, these are not our proposals, these are compromise solutions that we have worked out over the last two years," the Armenian Prime Minister added.

The head of the Russian Cabinet of Ministers added that in accordance with the agreements of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan, systematic work is underway to unblock economic and transport links in the South Caucasus. The creation of new infrastructure routes generally meets the interests of all states of the region.

To recap, the meeting of the trilateral working group on unblocking of communications in the region under co-chairing of vice-premiers of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan - Mher Grigoryan, Alexey Overchuk and Shahin Mustafayev was held on June 2 in the Russian capital.

In particular, a common understanding was reached on the implementation of concrete steps to restore and organize the Yeraskh-Julfa-Meghri-Goradiz railway connection. Later, Mher Grigoryan's office told Sputnik Armenia that it was about customs and border control processes.
