China launches cutting-edge remote sensing satellite into orbit

27 September 2023 11:17

China has sent its latest remote-sensing satellite into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in the northwest part of the country.

The satellite, Yaogan-33 04, was launched on a Long March-4C carrier rocket at 4:15 a.m. (Beijing Time), and has entered its planned orbit successfully, Caliber.Az reports, citing Xinhua.

It will be used for scientific experiments, land resource surveys, crop yield estimates, and disaster prevention and relief work.

According to CGTN, the Long March-4C is a three-stage launch vehicle fueled by liquid propellant. With the ability to launch various types of satellites to different orbits, it can send one or multiple satellites into orbit via a single launch and is able to put up to three tonnes of payloads into a sun-synchronous circular orbit.

The launch was the 489th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series.
