Mossad chief heading to Qatar

Mossad Chief David Barnea is heading to Doha, the capital of Qatar, to negotiate with Hamas for the release of abductees.

The Israeli delegation is already present in Doha, Caliber.Az reports citing the foreign media.

Senior officials reported that Hamas' response is positive and there has been a breakthrough, but significant unresolved issues could still derail the negotiations.

Shin Bet Chief Ronen Bar and Coordinator for Israeli Hostages in Gaza Nitzan Alon have not accompanied Barnea to Doha but are coordinating negotiation details with him.

Mossad is Israel's national intelligence agency, responsible for intelligence gathering, covert operations, and counterterrorism. Established on December 13, 1949, at the recommendation of Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion, Mossad operates under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister's Office.

The conflict between Israel and Hamas has been a central aspect of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
