Abu Dhabi’s Habshan gas complex to reach full capacity only by 2027
The Habshan gas complex in Abu Dhabi is not expected to return to full production capacity until 2027, following disruptions caused by falling projectile debris in April.
Operator ADNOC Gas said the facility, which halted operations on April 8, has already restored a significant portion of its output.
“Within a short period, 60% of the complex’s processing capacity has been restored, and the company is currently working to reach 80% by the end of 2026, with full capacity to be restored in 2027,” the company said in a statement.
The disruption has had a substantial financial impact. ADNOC Gas estimates losses of between $400 million and $600 million, linked to the closure of the Strait of Hormuz and broader regional tensions involving Iran.
Chief Financial Officer Peter van Driel noted in an interview with Bloomberg TV that even after maritime traffic resumes in the Strait of Hormuz, restoring liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports will take additional time. He indicated that exports could recover within several weeks after shipping operations restart.
