Adverse weather conditions cause backlog of 700 Armenian trucks at Russia-Georgian border
The North Ossetian Traffic Management Centre has announced that approximately 700 Armenian trucks are waiting to cross the Russian-Georgian border at the Upper Lars checkpoint.
There are currently 1,891 trucks from various countries in the queue, with 690 of them being Armenian vehicles, Caliber.Az reports via Armenian media.
The Mtskheta-Stepantsminda-Lars international highway, which connects Georgia and Russia, is open for all types of vehicles. However, traffic jams persist due to adverse weather conditions. The Georgian Military Road remains the only operational land route connecting Armenia with Russia via Georgia.
The Georgian Military Road, which is of critical importance for both countries, remains the only functioning land route for transporting goods between Armenia and Russia.
