ANAMA: Azerbaijan clears nearly 1,700 hectares from mines, unexploded ordnance WEEKLY REPORT / Photo
The Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) has released its weekly report on demining operations carried out in the liberated territories.
Between December 1 and 7, a total of 273 anti-personnel mines, 66 anti-tank mines, and 1,511 pieces of unexploded ordnance were detected and neutralised in the districts of Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khojavand, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil, Gazakh, Zangilan, as well as in the city of Khankendi, ANAMA told Caliber.Az.
In total, an area of 1,693.4 hectares was cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance.

Since the end of the 2020 war, landmines in Azerbaijan have caused around 400 deaths or injuries, bringing the total number of victims since the 1990s to over 3,400. A notable portion of those affected are women and children.
Armenia’s ongoing refusal to share precise minefield maps, coupled with its continued deployment of mines in civilian zones, has worsened the humanitarian situation.
