ANAMA: Azerbaijan clears over 800 hectares from mines, unexploded ordnance WEEKLY REPORT / PHOTO

15 December 2025 13:37

The Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA) has released its weekly report on demining operations carried out in the liberated territories.

Between December 8 and 14, a total of 42 anti-personnel mines, 18 anti-tank mines, and 683 pieces of unexploded ordnance were detected and neutralised in the districts of Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khojavand, Lachin, Shusha, Fuzuli, Gubadli, Jabrayil, Gazakh, Zangilan, as well as in the city of Khankendi, ANAMA told Caliber.Az.

In total, an area of 838,2 hectares was cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance.

Since the conclusion of the 2020 conflict, landmines in Azerbaijan have resulted in roughly 400 deaths and injuries, pushing the overall number of victims since the 1990s to more than 3,400, with a significant share being women and children.

Armenia’s persistent refusal to provide accurate minefield maps, along with its continued placement of mines in civilian areas, has further aggravated the humanitarian crisis.
