Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Mine Action Agency (ANAMA), Vugar Suleymanov, together with members of the Public Council under ANAMA, has conducted a two-day visit to the liberated territories to assess the progress of humanitarian demining operations.
As part of the mission to the Gazakh district, the delegation reviewed ongoing awareness-raising activities designed to inform the local population and returning residents about the dangers posed by landmines and other explosive remnants of war, ANAMA told Caliber.Az.
The visit to Gazakh included active participation in the placement of warning signs in mine-contaminated areas to enhance public safety and highlight hazardous zones.
The delegation also travelled to ANAMA’s Goygol Regional Training Centre, where they familiarised themselves with the facilities and observed a live humanitarian demining training session. The training involved personnel from the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, underlining the inter-agency coordination in Azerbaijan’s mine action efforts.
Additionally, the delegation monitored field activities of the Eurasia Press International Foundation in the Aghdara district, reflecting ANAMA’s commitment to collaboration with civil society actors in the demining process.
The trip concluded with a visit to ANAMA’s mobile operational base in the Lachin district. There, Vugar Suleymanov and Public Council members held discussions with ANAMA sappers on the ground, addressing their working conditions, challenges, and operational needs.
