Apple users no longer need passwords
08 June 2022 20:30
Apple at the annual WWDC 2022 developer conference introduced a new Passkeys feature in the Safari browser, which will allow you to log in to sites without a password, Gazeta.Ru reports with reference to the TechCrunch news portal.
The function allows you to replace ordinary passwords with biometric authorization via Face ID or Touch ID. The technology is reportedly based on the WebAuthn standard, which uses public-key cryptography. Keys are stored in iCloud and can be synced across all Apple devices.
“Since it only takes a single tap to sign in, it's both easier, faster, and more secure than nearly all common modern forms of authentication,” said Apple engineer Garrett Davidson.
