Armenia leaves door open for Türkiye's participation in Trump Route project
Armenia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan has addressed the potential involvement of a Turkish company in the implementation of the Trump Route project.
Safaryan emphasized that the matter will be resolved through consultations between the parties, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“The parties must decide. Naturally, each side has its own approaches. Everything will be determined within the framework of consultations,” he said when asked whether Armenia rules out engaging a Turkish company.
The deputy minister added that all decisions regarding company selection must reflect the interests of the parties involved, while highlighting that the establishment of an Armenian-American company should take priority.
Safaryan also noted that active discussions on this matter are currently ongoing.
The Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) is a US-brokered infrastructure project aimed at establishing a multimodal transit corridor through southern Armenia, connecting Azerbaijan’s mainland to its Nakhchivan exclave. The route, approximately 40–43 km long in Armenia’s Syunik Province, includes rail, road, gas and oil pipelines, power lines, and fibre-optic cables. It is part of ongoing Azerbaijan-Armenia normalisation efforts following the 2020 Karabakh war and subsequent anti-terror operation in 2023 that fully restored Azerbaijan’s sovereignty.
