Armenia seeks strategic partnership agreement with Iran, Pashinyan says
Armenia intends to sign a strategic partnership agreement with Iran, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced during a briefing following a government meeting.
Pashinyan emphasised that relations between Armenia and Iran are at a very high level and confirmed the country’s interest in formalising closer cooperation, Caliber.Az.reports per Armenian media.
“Yes, we want to sign a document on strategic cooperation with Iran,” he said.
In August 2025, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian made an official visit to Yerevan, where Armenia and Iran signed a joint declaration and more than a dozen cooperation agreements spanning political consultation, tourism, industry, education, healthcare, transport, and cultural cooperation—steps that officials described as laying the groundwork for an eventual strategic partnership. The joint statement emphasised deepening ties and regular high‑level consultations aimed at coordinating policy on both bilateral and regional issues.
