Armenia to assign Eurojust prosecutor at embassy in Netherlands
Armenia will appoint a prosecutor (representative) responsible for cooperation with the European Union Agency for Criminal Justice Cooperation (Eurojust) at its embassy in the Netherlands.
According to Caliber.Az, citing Armenian media, this decision was approved on 25 September during a session of the Armenian government.
The government statement highlights that Eurojust’s scope of authority is extensive. In the context of combating crime, it covers areas including counterterrorism, organised crime, drug trafficking, money laundering, human and organ trafficking, and other related criminal activities.
The arrangement establishes direct contact between Eurojust and the relevant Armenian authority, which will facilitate the exchange of information and data necessary to ensure seamless operations aimed at detecting transnational crimes.
This framework will also enable the rapid and efficient execution of requests from Armenia’s central or competent authorities to foreign counterparts for legal assistance in criminal proceedings, including extradition requests, as well as responses to similar requests from foreign competent authorities.
