Armenia warns of economic strain if Iran conflict drags on
Armenia’s economy could face serious repercussions if the conflict involving Iran drags on, Economy Minister Gevorg Papoyan has warned.
Papoyan noted that economic pressures are already beginning to emerge, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“Costs are already being observed, particularly in the form of rising prices for certain goods. Armenia imports some types of raw materials from Iran, and in this regard there are also risks of further price increases,” he said.
The minister highlighted Armenia’s reliance on Iranian supplies, suggesting that prolonged instability could further disrupt supply chains and intensify inflationary pressures.
At the same time, Papoyan revealed that discussions are ongoing between business communities in Armenia and Azerbaijan regarding a specific product that could potentially be developed for export, signaling continued efforts to explore new economic opportunities despite regional challenges.
