Armenian mines stall Karabakh's economic growth - Azerbaijani official
Mines laid by Armenia are posing a threat to people's lives and are slowing down the process of economic revival of the Azerbaijani territories liberated from occupation.
Deputy Economy Minister Sahib Mammadov said this at a meeting of the joint steering committee of the Azerbaijani government and the UN on the implementation of the "Framework Document on Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development for 2021-2025" in Baku, Report carries.
Mammadov recalled that the Azerbaijani president put forward an initiative to add demining to the UN's 2030 agenda as the 18th Sustainable Development Goal.
"COP29 can become an important platform to promote this initiative in the international arena. Joint projects with the UN will contribute to the fight against climate change, adaptation, as well as the realization of our country's priorities regarding the success of COP29 in Azerbaijan and other issues," Mammadov added.
The deputy minister also noted that the global development priorities, put forward by the UN and other international organizations, are taken into account in the implementation of programs on the reintegration of de-occupied lands and I State Programme on Great Return.
