Armenian PM urges foreign embassies to lift border travel warnings
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has called on foreign embassies operating in Armenia to stop advising their citizens against visiting the country’s border areas, emphasizing that such advisories are outdated and unnecessary.
Speaking during a government session, Pashinyan stressed that while he did not specify particular countries, these warnings are most commonly issued by Western missions, and have in past years repeatedly targeted border regions, notably Syunik Province, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
“Mr. Mirzoyan, it is imperative to engage with these embassies to ensure they do not continue issuing such advisories out of routine,” Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister also highlighted that Armenia is consistently rated as a safe country in international reports on crime, citing data from 2025 to support the claim.
To recall, several foreign embassies have for years periodically warned their citizens to avoid travel to areas near the Azerbaijan border, a precaution Pashinyan argues is now unnecessary.
