Armenian servicemen liquidated in Karabakh Caliber.Az reveals details
Two of the five Armenian terrorists, killed on the night of June 28 in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan, were servicemen of the Armenian Armed Forces, according to information available to Caliber.Az.
The Russian peacekeepers, temporarily stationed in Karabakh, are currently trying to agree with the Azerbaijani side on the issue of evacuating their bodies to Armenia.
Armenian officials, including Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, claim that the Armenian Armed Forces have allegedly been completely withdrawn from the territory of Azerbaijan.
The current situation, however, clearly shows that Armenia not only continues to financially support illegal armed formations, but also has not completely withdrawn its servicemen from the Azerbaijani territory.
To recap, about 2,000 Russian peacekeepers have been deployed for five years in Karabakh under the trilateral cease-fire deal signed by Baku, Moscow and Yerevan on November 10, 2020. The signed agreement obliged Armenia to withdraw all its troops from the Azerbaijani lands that it had occupied since the early 1990s.
Armenia, contrary to paragraph 4 of the trilateral statement, still does not withdraw the remnants of the Armenian armed forces from the region. Armenia continues to send servicemen to the region in violation of Article 6 of the statement.
Meanwhile, a bilateral meeting between Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov and his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan kicked off in Arlington, Virginia, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan said on June 27.
The meeting’s agenda includes the draft agreement on peace and the establishment of interstate relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
During the meeting, Bayramov drew attention to the positions and approaches of Azerbaijan on the issues covered in the draft agreement. Attempts to obstruct the peace process and a number of provocative steps on the part of Armenia were emphasized. In order for the peace process to succeed, it was stated that it is important to refrain from these steps, to withdraw the Armenian armed forces, which have not yet been fully withdrawn from the territories of Azerbaijan, to respect territorial integrity and sovereignty both in word and deed, the ministry said in a statement.
Earlier, the US State Department spokesman, Matthew Miller, said that the talks between the Azerbaijani and Armenian foreign ministers in the US will continue until June 29.
