An event dedicated to the International Solidarity Day of Azerbaijanis was held in Kazakhstan’s capital, Astana.
According to local media, the celebration was organised on the initiative of the Association of Azerbaijanis of Kazakhstan and brought together representatives of the Azerbaijani diaspora, youth, and the broader public.
Speaking at the event, Bakhysh Guliyev, head of the Astana branch of the Association, emphasised that the International Solidarity Day of Azerbaijanis symbolises the unity and cohesion of Azerbaijanis living in different countries.
During the gathering, active members of the diaspora and the Association’s youth wing were presented with certificates of appreciation for their contribution to the development of friendly Azerbaijani–Kazakh relations.
The event concluded with a concert program featuring Azerbaijani and Kazakh songs.
The International Solidarity Day of Azerbaijanis is marked annually on December 31. It was officially established in 1991 by a decision of the Supreme Council of Azerbaijan, following an initiative by national leader Heydar Aliyev.
The day is intended to promote unity, cohesion, and close ties among Azerbaijanis living around the world, while strengthening their cultural, linguistic, and national identity and encouraging engagement with Azerbaijan’s social and national priorities.
