ASTRA: Ukrainian drone strike kills three in Russia’s Ryazan PHOTO / VIDEO

A large-scale Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian city of Ryazan killed three people, injured at least 12 others and damaged residential buildings and an oil refinery overnight, Russian independent media ASTRA reports. 

Residents heard multiple explosions across the city late on May 14, with videos circulating online showing fires burning in several districts and windows shaking from the blasts.

According to the ASTRA open-source analysts, two apartment buildings were hit during the attack. One of the damaged high-rise buildings is located in the Tricolour residential complex on Kasimovskoye Shosse, while another was struck on Novoselov Street.

The attack also reportedly affected the Ryazan Oil Refinery, one of Russia’s major oil-processing facilities, situated around 4 kilometres from the Olimpiysky Gorodok residential district.

Ryazan Region Governor Pavel Malkov said three people were killed and 12 injured, including children. He added that residential buildings and a commercial facility sustained damage, while emergency crews were working to clear debris and evacuate residents.

Temporary accommodation centres have been opened for those displaced by the strikes, Malkov said.

Authorities also cancelled classes in nurseries and schools in Ryazan’s Oktyabrsky district due to security concerns. A heightened alert regime remains in effect across the city and the wider region.
