Austria, Spain maintain high terror threat assessment
Law enforcement agencies in Austria and Spain have affirmed their assessment of a high terrorist threat level but have indicated no plans for additional security measures following the recent terrorist attack at Moscow's Crocus City Hall.
According to RBC, the Austrian Ministry of Internal Affairs has stated that the terrorist threat level has been evaluated as high since October 2023. However, authorities currently do not see any specific indications warranting an elevation to the maximum threat level.
"There are currently no signs of a specific threat," stated the department.
Similarly, the Spanish Ministry of Internal Affairs has confirmed the assessment of the terrorist threat level at fourth (high) but has no immediate intentions to raise it to the maximum fifth level.
The decisions by both countries reflect a balanced approach to security measures, taking into account the existing threat landscape while ensuring that responses are proportionate and based on credible intelligence.
