Azerbaijan adds "COP29" special category to taxi apps for conference attendees
The COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company has said that a new category called "COP29" was introduced in the mobile apps of the Bolt and Yango taxi companies.
The reason is to ensure the availability of passenger transportation services for delegations attending the COP29 conference, as well as for local participants, Caliber.Az reports.
The "COP29" category has been added to the order menu in the mobile apps of the mentioned taxi companies. This feature not only simplifies the booking process but also directs customers to the nearest available taxi stand.
Taxi fleets have designated special vehicles for this category, which are marked with corresponding stickers to ensure easy identification. Moreover, Baku Taxi, the official partner of COP29, is also offering its services to conference participants.
The company's taxis will serve designated areas at "Terminal-1" of Heydar Aliyev International Airport and at the Baku Stadium. Baku Taxi services will be provided free of charge for wheelchair-bound individuals who are accredited to attend the conference or have received a confirmation letter for participation.
The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) will be held in Azerbaijan this November. This decision was made at the COP28 plenary session in Dubai on December 11, 2023.
During two weeks, Baku will become a global hub, welcoming around 70,000 to 80,000 international guests. The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) is an agreement signed at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in June 1992, aimed at preventing dangerous human interference with the climate system.
The abbreviation COP means "Conference of the Parties" and refers to the highest decision-making body responsible for overseeing the implementation of the UNFCCC. The Convention has 198 member states. Unless otherwise decided by the parties, the COP is held annually. The first COP event was held in Berlin in March 1995, and its secretariat is based in Bonn.
