Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan ink 60 agreements to boost higher education collaboration

29 May 2025 12:05

The first-ever meeting of university rectors from Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan, aimed at deepening partnership in higher education, took place in the city of Andijan, Uzbekistan. During the event, a total of 60 different agreements and documents were signed.

The meeting covered prospects for student and scholar exchanges, the creation of joint educational programs and scientific research, and improving the quality of specialist training and research on both sides, Caliber.Az reports, citing Uzbek media.

It was also agreed to organise internships and international seminars to foster academic mobility for both students and faculty members.

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Science and Education, Idris Isayev, and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation, Shokhrukh Daliyov, participated in the event. They highlighted the importance of building long-term cooperation and expressed readiness to strengthen collaboration in the education sector.

“Following the discussions, around 60 various agreements and memoranda of understanding were signed, covering a wide range of fields — from academic exchanges to the development of joint research projects. The signed documents symbolise the beginning of a new phase of cooperation in higher education and science,” the reports emphasised.
