Media accreditation opens for World Urban Forum in Baku
The World Urban Forum (WUF13), the premier global conference on sustainable urban development, has officially opened media accreditation for its 13th session, scheduled to take place in Baku from May 17 to 22, 2026. This year’s forum will focus on the theme “Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Settlements.”
The Azerbaijan Operational Company of WUF13 emphasized that all media accreditation must be completed exclusively through the official UN-Habitat online registration system. Applications submitted via email or postal mail will not be accepted, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Accreditation is strictly limited to journalists and media representatives officially registered in UN member states. All applications will undergo a thorough review process, and those approved will receive an official letter confirming their accreditation.
The forum provides a platform for international dialogue on sustainable urbanization, and accredited media will have the opportunity to cover discussions, panels, and initiatives aimed at advancing safe and inclusive cities worldwide.
Additional details and registration instructions are available on the official WUF13 webpage.
WUF13 offers a unique platform for media professionals to cover high-level global debates shaping the future of cities and communities. Journalists attending WUF13 can expect:
Access to high-profile speakers, including ministers, mayors and UN leaders, for interviews and commentary,
Dedicated media zones for live broadcasts and remote reporting,
Press briefings with national and local governments and UN officials,
Behind-the-scenes access to key sessions and discussions,
Opportunities to engage with exhibitors showcasing innovative urban and housing solutions.
Over six days, WUF13 will feature hundreds of events, including an opening and closing ceremony, assemblies, dialogues, special sessions, roundtables and an extended Urban Expo. The Forum will be preceded by a high-level segment on the New Urban Agenda.
