Türkiye, Azerbaijan strengthen prosecutorial ties during official visit PHOTO
A Turkish delegation of prosecutors and judges, led by Istanbul Deputy Chief Prosecutor Can Tuncay, conducted an official working visit to Azerbaijan, including Baku, aimed at strengthening cooperation between prosecutorial bodies, exchanging institutional experience, and deepening legal-sector ties.
During the visit, the delegation toured Baku’s Prosecutor’s Office. Baku City Prosecutor Elshan Abbasov briefed the guests on the office’s operations, management structure, investigative mechanisms, procedural oversight, and citizen complaint procedures, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The meeting covered matters of mutual interest between the two countries’ prosecution systems and emphasised the importance of exchanging legal expertise to enhance institutional cooperation.
The delegation received a detailed presentation on the “Electronic Prosecutor” information system, including its modern digital solutions, e-services, and mechanisms ensuring efficient, transparent, and prompt handling of citizen requests. The system’s functionality, data integration potential, and innovative approaches drew significant interest from the visitors, who noted that sharing experience in digitalisation would benefit future collaboration.
As part of the program, the delegation met with Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev, who highlighted the strategic partnership and close, fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Türkiye, noting that these create favourable conditions for expanding interaction between law enforcement bodies, particularly prosecution offices.
Aliyev also praised the Istanbul Prosecutor’s Office for donating a substantial collection of legal, scientific, and educational materials to the Karabakh University library, emphasising the initiative’s importance for training young lawyers, promoting research, and enhancing legal knowledge, and expressed gratitude for the support.
Both sides stressed the need to further strengthen legal-sector ties, expand cooperation on issues of mutual interest, intensify professional training, organise educational programs, and continue exchanging institutional experience. An agreement was reached to maintain contact, implement joint initiatives, and develop cooperation in new formats in the future.
