Ukrainian children find emotional, cultural support in Azerbaijan
Since 2022, a total of 360 Ukrainian children affected by the Russia–Ukraine war have received social and psychological rehabilitation services in Azerbaijan, as part of a long-running humanitarian initiative.
Vugar Behbudov, Chairman of the Board of the Social Services Agency, told a year-end press conference that 132 Ukrainian children were brought to Azerbaijan in 2025 alone. The children arrived in four separate groups to participate in structured rehabilitation programs designed to support their emotional and psychological recovery, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Behbudov noted that the children engaged in a diverse array of activities, encompassing group therapy sessions, meditation and yoga practices, psychosocial development training, creative workshops, and immersive programs introducing Azerbaijan’s national cuisine. These activities were organized not only in the capital, Baku, but also in various regions of the country.
“The project has been implemented for the fourth consecutive year and is aimed at the social and psychological rehabilitation of children affected by the war in Ukraine,” Behbudov said. “As part of the program, excursions to historical sites and landmarks across the country are also organized for them. From 2022 to the present, 360 Ukrainian children have benefited from rehabilitation services in Azerbaijan.”
