Azerbaijan advances “Great Return” with new resettlement to Khojavand, Khojaly

As part of the “Great Return” state programme initiated by the President of Azerbaijan, new groups of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) departed on March 11morning for the settlement of Girmizi Bazar in the Khojavand district and the village of Khanabad in the Khojaly district, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

These individuals had previously been temporarily accommodated in dormitories, sanatoriums, children's camps, as well as unfinished and administrative buildings.

At this stage, 20 families (81 people) are returning to Girmizi Bazar, while 21 families (103 people) are returning to Khanabad.

Following the brilliant victory of the Azerbaijani Army in the Patriotic War under the leadership of the President of Azerbaijan and Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Ilham Aliyev, former internally displaced persons have gained the opportunity to return voluntarily, safely, and with dignity to their homeland after 30 years.

The returning residents expressed gratitude to the head of state and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva for the comprehensive care provided by the government. They also thanked the brave Azerbaijani Army for liberating the country’s lands from occupation and wished eternal peace to the souls of the martyrs who sacrificed their lives for this noble cause.
