29 September 2025 18:14

Azerbaijan's Energy Ministry has held the 10th meeting of the working group dedicated to coordinating and monitoring the implementation of green technologies and energy efficiency standards in the country’s recently liberated territories.

Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov, who chairs the working group, highlighted the extensive restoration and construction efforts underway in these areas, following directives from President Ilham Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports per the ministry.

The meeting emphasised that promoting green technologies, enhancing energy efficiency, and expanding renewable energy use are key priorities in Azerbaijan’s strategic plans aimed at ensuring sustainable socio-economic development and supporting the Great Return initiative.

Updates were provided on progress since the previous meeting, including efforts to establish a green energy zone in the liberated regions. Monitoring results from Shusha, Kalbajar, and Jabrayil cities, as well as surrounding villages and hydroelectric power plants in Lachin and Kalbajar, were reviewed in detail.

Significant strides include connecting rooftop solar panels to the grid in 334 homes in Horovlu village and launching educational programs on renewable energy usage for residents of Shusha, Lachin, and Zabukh. Energy efficiency measures showcased include the installation of LED street lighting, solar-powered hybrid lighting systems, electric vehicle charging stations, electric buses, and solar panels on public buildings.

The working group also made key decisions to further implement environmentally advanced solutions in the liberated territories, promote energy-saving opportunities, initiate pilot projects, test cutting-edge technologies, and improve monitoring and accounting systems.

The meeting brought together representatives from various state institutions involved in the working group, alongside officials from the Special Representative Offices of the President in the liberated territories, the Restoration, Construction and Management Service, the Shusha City State Reserve Administration, and Azeristiliktechizat OJSC.
