Azerbaijan appoints new ambassador to Russia
President Ilham Aliyev has signed a decree appointing Rahman Mustafayev as Azerbaijan's ambassador to Russia.
In a separate decree, Mustafayev has also been relieved of his duties as Azerbaijan’s ambassador to the Netherlands, as well as his role as the permanent representative of Azerbaijan to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, Caliber.Az reports.
Notably, the former ambassador of Azerbaijan to Russia Polad Bulbuloglu recalled from his role on September 23.
Bulbuloglu was recently elected as an MP in the 7th convocation of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) during the elections held on September 1.
Subsequently, he was appointed as the chairman of the Culture Committee during the first session of the new parliament.
Born on February 4, 1945, in Baku, Azerbaijan, Bulbuloglu is not only a prominent Azerbaijani singer and songwriter known for his contributions to pop and folk music but also a seasoned politician.
Throughout his career, he has released numerous albums and is celebrated for his unique vocal style and emotional performances.
On September 30, Russian President Vladimir Putin presented the Order of Alexander Nevsky to Polad Bulbuloglu. He received this honour in acknowledgment of his contributions to enhancing the cooperative relationship between Azerbaijan and Russia.
