Azerbaijan boosts West-East route freight traffic
According to the press release by Azerbaijan Railways CJSC, the company transported a total of 698,178 tonnes of cargo along the "West-East" transport corridor in the first quarter of 2024.
Caliber.Az reports, citing the press service, that this marks a 10% increase in the volume of freight traffic compared to the same period in the previous year. This is a significant achievement for the company and demonstrates its commitment to providing efficient and reliable transportation services to its customers.
The report further states that most of the transported cargoes were nitrogen fertilizers and fuel oil. The transportation of nitrogen fertilizers is a critical component of the agricultural sector, and Azerbaijan Railways' role in ensuring their timely delivery is commendable.
Fuel oil, on the other hand, is a crucial energy source for various industries, including power generation, and its transportation is essential for the country's economic growth.
Additionally, the report reveals that the volume of transported oil products has increased tenfold compared to the first quarter of 2023.
