Azerbaijan carries out 268 development projects in Karabakh, East Zangazur In early 2026
A total of 268 infrastructure and development projects were implemented in the territories of Karabakh and East Zangazur during the first quarter of 2026, according to the Ministry of Finance of Azerbaijan.
Official data shows that 386.2 million manats ($227.1 million) were spent on the projects, representing 11 per cent of the actual budget allocation for the period, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
The projects covered multiple sectors, including 41 in transport, 15 in water management and land reclamation, 6 in energy and industry, 19 in defence and law enforcement, 171 in the social sphere, and 16 in other areas.
Transport projects accounted for the largest share of spending, with 185 million manats ($108.8 million) allocated (17.6% of the budget). Social projects received 153 million manats ($89.9 million) (9%), while the defence and law enforcement sector was allocated 26.3 million manats ($15.4 million) (18.3%). Other projects accounted for 21.9 million manats ($12.8 million) (9%).
According to the report, no funds were disbursed during the period for projects in the water management and energy sectors, despite their inclusion among planned activities.
