Azerbaijan commemorates legendary hero Mubariz Ibrahimov
February 7 is the birthday of the National Hero of Azerbaijan Mubariz Ibrahimov.
He was born on February 7, 1988, in Aliabad village of Bilasuvar district.
In 2005 he graduated with honors from the secondary school named after martyr Malik Piriyev in his native village.
In March 2006 he was called up for military service by the military commission of Bilasuvar district. He began his compulsory service in the Internal Troops as a rifleman, then he was a sub-unit commander. On November 20, 2007, he was discharged to the reserve.
On September 18, 2009, he again voluntarily entered active military service and graduated from the Warrant Officer Course of the Armed Forces Training and Education Center. Honourably and courageously performed his duty on the front line as deputy company commander of a motorized rifle battalion.
On the night of June 19, 2010, Ibragimov destroyed a large number of enemy soldiers near the village of Chayli in the Tartar region in an unequal battle, wounded several, and died heroically.
President Ilham Aliyev signed an order to award Mubariz Aghakarim oglu Ibrahimov the title "National Hero of Azerbaijan" (posthumously) for his exceptional merits and bravery shown while defending the independence and territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
A lyceum and a street were named after him in the town of Bilasuvar. In 2018, a second-generation 12.7 mm calibre rifle of the Istiglal family of sniper rifles produced by the Azerbaijani Ministry of Defence Industry was named after him.
In 2014, a memorial plaque in honour of Mubariz Ibragimov was installed in Minto Park in Ottawa, Canada.
In 2016, one of the streets in Sumgayit City was named after him.
In the same year, a monument to Ibrahimov was erected at the Azerbaijan State University of Oil and Industry.
