Azerbaijan continues clearing Karabakh of mines
The Mine Action Agency of the Azerbaijan Republic (ANAMA) has published a monthly report on the humanitarian demining operations in the territories liberated from occupation.
Some 141 anti-tank mines, 191 anti-personnel mines and 2,502 unexploded ordnance were revealed and defused in the liberated territories in April. During the reporting period, 6,038.9 hectares were cleared of mines, ANAMA told Caliber.Az.
A total area spanning 1,429.1 hectares was successfully cleared of mines and unexploded ordnance, ANAMA noted.
The demining operations are a collaborative effort involving ANAMA, the Defence Ministry, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and the State Border Service. Together, they are working diligently to ensure the safety and security of the liberated areas, allowing civilians to return to the liberated lands.
ANAMA's ongoing efforts reflect Azerbaijan's commitment to post-conflict reconstruction and humanitarian relief in the districts affected by the conflict. By systematically clearing landmines and unexploded ordnance, Azerbaijan intends to create safe conditions for displaced communities to return home.
