Azerbaijan continues humanitarian aid campaign for Armenian residents of Garabagh INFOGRAPHIC

Azerbaijan has been actively conducting a massive humanitarian aid campaign for the Armenian residents of the country’s Garabagh region since the end of the recent anti-terror measures. Garabagh and its Armenian minority, free of separatists and terrorists, are now under versatile care of Azerbaijan.

The counter-terrorism measures in Garabagh ended in the surrender of the Armenian army formations on September 20. On September 21 and 25, the government of Azerbaijan hosted the representatives of the region’s Armenian residents in two separate meetings to discuss reintegration and address their needs.

In a quick response to humanitarian aid calls, Azerbaijani authorities rolled out all-out extensive assistance measures to meet the needs of its Armenian residents.

On September 22, forty tonnes of food and hygiene products in two lorries were dispatched to the city of Khankendi. The cargo contained 1,200 sets of food packages with flour, butter, sugar, tea and other essential nutrients in each, as well as 9,600 pieces of baby diapers and 6,000 loaves of bread.

On September 23, forty tonnes of gasoline and 24 tonnes of diesel fuel reached from Azerbaijan to Khankendi. By September 28, the Armenian population of Garabagh received a total of 140 tons of gasoline and 74 tonnes of diesel fuel from Azerbaijan.

When a deadly explosion hit Khankendi on September 25, the government of Azerbaijan immediately dispatched medical supplies for 200 victims of the incident. The same batch of additional medical assistance was delivered on September 26. On the same day, 500 bedding sets and 40 tonnes of flour were sent to the Armenian residents of Garabagh.

To address the outcomes of the deadly blast, the government of Azerbaijan mobilized the hospitals in the Aghdam, Saatli, and Sabirabad regions of the country, reinforcing their medical staff with additional personnel. Moreover, the Lachin-Khankendi and Aghdam-Khankendi roads were opened for humanitarian movements, including for the convoys of the International Committee of the Red Cross. Azerbaijani authorities allowed also a helicopter with an Armenian medical staff on board to enter Garabagh.

On September 26, the Emergencies Ministry of Azerbaijan dispatched firefighting crews in 15 vehicles of special purpose to Khankendi to extinguish the deadly fire. The blaze was put out by the Azerbaijani firefighters after immediate assessment of the territory for preventing its expansion to surrounding areas.

On September 27, the Emergencies Ministry sent additional crews in 10 special-purpose vehicles for conducting post-blaze rescue and other necessary security operations. On the same day, the ministry supplied 23,160 packages of cookies, 10,000 chocolate batons, and 31,680 bottles of drinkable water for the Armenian residents of Garabagh suffering the explosion.

The ministry also launched the installation of a field hospital and a field kitchen near the town on Khojaly to facilitate the assistance to the fire victims. The speed up the installation process, professional personnel of the ministry on 53 vehicles left for the area.

Meanwhile, the government of Azerbaijan also provided 10 buses to transport the Armenian residents willing to leave Garabagh for Armenia.
