Azerbaijan, D-8 focus on expanding media cooperation at Shusha forum

Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, met with Sohail Mahmood, Secretary General of the Developing-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation (D-8), along with Mustafa Ozcan, Director of the Organization, and Muhammad Bilal Khan, Executive Assistant to the Secretary General, on the sidelines of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum.

The meeting focused on the prospects for expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

During the discussions, Hajiyev recalled that, at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan had proposed the establishment of a D-8 Center for Media Excellence. He noted that the initiative also led to the organization of the first D-8 Media Forum in Azerbaijan last year, describing the launch of the Media Excellence Center as a natural continuation of the president's vision.

Sohail Mahmood welcomed the initiative, congratulating Azerbaijan on the establishment of the D-8 Center for Media Excellence and expressing his appreciation for the country's efforts.

The participants emphasized that the new center is expected to serve as a key platform for strengthening media cooperation among D-8 member states. It will provide professional training for journalists and media specialists, facilitate discussions on emerging challenges related to artificial intelligence and the media, organize training programs on combating disinformation, and promote the exchange of professional experience among member countries.
