Azerbaijan detains Armenian saboteurs in custody
As Caliber.Az previously reported, on May 26, the Prosecutor General's Office instituted criminal proceedings on relevant articles of Azerbaijan’s Criminal Code in connection with the violation of Azerbaijan’s state border by a provocative subversive group of Armenian armed forces in the section of the Azerbaijani - Armenian state border near Razdara village of Zangilan region and other illegal actions.
Two members of the Armenian Armed Forces - Khovakimyan Kharut Yuriki and Ghazaryan Karen Ashoti are under investigation by the Investigation Department of Azerbaijan’s General Prosecutor's Office in the criminal case, and a preventive measure in the form of detention was adopted against them by a court decision, APA reports, citing a report of the General Prosecutor's Office.
On May 26, Azerbaijani border guards foiled an attempt by Khovakimyan and Gazaryan to violate the state border. They were detained with full arms and ammunition.
As expected, some 40-45 minutes after the first reports surfaced that the Armenian saboteurs were detained by Azerbaijani border troops, the Armenian Defence Ministry, having recovered from the shock, tried to deny the information.
As usual, it was rather clumsy. "The information circulated in the Azerbaijani media about an alleged attempt by the Armenian side to sabotage the south-eastern part of the border zone is an absolute lie and does not correspond to reality.”
Then, already at midnight, the Armenian Defence Ministry reported that "communication has been lost with two RA Armed Forces servicemen supplying food to the combat positions".
